So long this ornament,

We had some good times. I really thought you were super cute when I first got you when I was 9 and was a hardcore collector of everything pigs. I considered gluing you back together. But your breaking is symbolic of me moving forward with my life and it's your time to be thrown away. Plus I still have like 20 pig ornaments.

I hate when people write commentary or jokes in a letter format. But here I am. I think we can all learn something from this. And that is that it doesn't matter how far you run, you will always become what you hate.

Regretfully,
Amanda

So this happened......

That last one is from today. My sweet little daughter is four months old. I ran into an old friend at Whole Foods earlier today. Of course I was wearing loungewear and have three day old hair, but my point was: how quickly time passes. Darn tootin'! The good news is that now while my time is passing, I can do it with Coraline!

multi-tasking my life

Getting a lot done lately.
Creatively.
Which feels really really nice.

Days feel too short and so I'm finding myself up more and more at 3:30am. I'm grateful for this surge, but also overwhelmed by it. I suppose it's better to be overwhelmed by something rather than nothing.

It was nothing for too long. Nothing breeds nothingness.

I don't want to go to sleep. I want to paint and write and dance and hug! The birds are up singing a beautiful song. I have to leave the house in 4 hours. Not sure if the day will be easy or hard yet, should be sensible and get some sleep.

My best friend's wedding is soon. I'm writing a speech. Have not had to write a speech since speech class in 12th grade. I think my speech is really good. I think it'll be acceptable. It is NOT a list of all the times she and I have gotten drunk together and jokes about how many boys she's had her way with. It's a nice speech. It'll be good.

Of course Danielle Steel has a blog.

what the heck is a girl supposed to do!?

how can I be so busy when I have nothing to do!

Ick

For Mike's birthday I surprised him by setting up our fish tank with water, rocks, fake plants and fish! He was really happy about it. So we had two fish. David Swimmer and Wette Midler. After a few days they started to get.......sad. They were always laying at the bottom of the tank and being weird. David Swimmer started to get white heads. They were nasty. But Wette was the one who was acting the most sick.

Mike went to a neighborhood pet store and found out the fish have Ick. It's the most common fish disease they said. Just put this medicine in the tank they said. 2 days of treatment and nothing. The fish were not showing any signs of improvement. I went back to the PetCo I purchased them. As I was waiting for someone to help me I took a look at the tank our fish came from. All the fish in that tank were being sad too! Laying on the ground or on rocks. And then I noticed a sign that read, "Fish under observation. Temporarily not for sale." Hmmm? I bought the fish there, from that tank, about a week ago. I didn't notice that sign there before. When the manager hurried back in from his smoke break to help me he told me that those fish have ick. Okay so that's consistent. He said that they have all had it for a while and the girl who sold me the fish shouldn't have. When I came in to buy them PetCo had run out of the
aforementioned "do not sell" signs. The shift changed and no one notified the night girl that all the goldfish were contaminated. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! The manager told me to bring them back and I could exchange them. Not sure what I can exchange them for since all the fish are equally diseased. Also, how do you exchange a pet? It's yours! We named those fish! We don't want different fish! We want our fish to be healthy. It's not in their policy to give free medicine.

Speaking of medicine. Mike looked up the medicine that he bought from the neighborhood pet shop and it's a dud. He found heaps of online reviews complaining that it doesn't do anything and it's a placebo.

Sure enough, this morning when I was at work I got the call. Wette Midler had died. An icky death. She died in her sleep? In her favorite place? I guess it was her time? She was loved. For a week.

RIP Wette Midler
